-  What is CLA?
CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) is a term referring to a group of derivatives of the essential fatty acid, linoleic acid. CLA, a polyunsaturated fatty acid, is usually found naturally in meat and dairy products. CLA plays an important role in a number of cellular metabolic processes. Source Naturals® CLA is made from safflower oil using a special patented process.

-  How does CLA help weight management?
CLA may help to reduce body fat and increase muscle by influencing our bodies’ efficiency in using food. CLA’s method of action is still being researched, but it is theorized to reduce lipoprotein lipase activity, reduce intracellular triglycerides and enhance glyercol release from adipose, (fatty) tissue.

-  I eat meat, why isn’t that enough to get the benefits of CLA?
CLA content is much lower in food than it used to be. Researchers believe this may be related to changes in the way cattle are fed. The green grass eaten by grazing cows is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids including linoleic acid. It is possible that, since cattle today are predominantly fed corn, oats, barley and hay rather than grazing on grass, they are no longer producing as much CLA.
